2011 H2H Series Finals (Leaf Blower at Wawayanda State Park)
By: Joaquin
The final race of the H2H season had arrived and team Marty’s went to the site of the first race of the year, Wawayanda State Park for the annual Leaf Blower Race. This was also scheduled to be the NJ State Championship race. Series Champions and State Championships would be decided on this chilly October race day.
The course was scheduled to be a 7+ mile loop through the usually technical portions of the park. It rained all day Saturday and the course was cut to 6.4 miles due to the conditions. The shorten course featured a bit more fire roads instead of the rocky single track we have all grown to love and/or hate. The rocky sections were slick and the fire roads were muddy. All throughout the course, riders were being swallowed by massive puddles.
As usual, team Marty’s members were ready to battle the conditions and race for the podium. Some members made the podium in the race, so made the podium for the NJ state championship and a few lucky riders made the podium for both.
Next up, the H2H series awards dinner on December 11th. Hope to see you there.
